Joining VCCB

Joining the Vancouver Community Concert Band is easy.

Some members have started an instrument after retirement. Many members had not touched their instruments in years - even decades! – and some have joined the VCCB while learning a new instrument.

The VCCB has many groups:

-The Concert Band

-The Vancouver Volcanic Dixieland Jazz Band: A rootin-tootin, road-ramblin, gun totin, whiskey drankin, boot-tappin, reverbaratin, rag-time dixieland jass band with devious lyrics, sinister Charlestons and dangerous jass music.

-Woodwinds Anonymous (woodwinds only)

-The Same Old Schmidt: a genuine, imitation German Band

-Coming Soon-A recorder ensemble which has yet to determine a name for themselves.

There are no fees for participation. All you need is your own instrument, a music stand and a desire to play. You will be asked to purchase some books of sheet music, costing less than $20. The majority of the band members are amateur musicians, but we have a couple of pros. The members range in age from middle school to retired.

All positions in the VCCB are strictly voluntary.

Contact director, Dr. Jim Rourk, 360-735-7806 about joining the band or email him here. Main band rehearsals are held at Friends of the Carpenter. This location is just a few minutes from downtown Vancouver with easy access off Mill Plain.
