About VCCB

The Vancouver Community Concert Band (VCCB) is a community organization comprised of volunteer members who enjoy making music together and want to share that music with others in and about the Vancouver, Washington USA area. Our repertoire includes patriotic favorites, Sousa marches from the late 1800s, folk tunes, and musical adaptations of jazz and classical standards. The band was founded in 1996 by director Dr. Jim Rourk and performs throughout the year at civic and patriotic ceremonies, arts and neighborhood festivals, and other local events. Please check our calendar for current

The Vancouver Community Concert Band’s stated mission is to further the cultural environment of the community; to provide entertainment for the general public at concerts and other performances; to offer its members an opportunity for personal self-expression through the medium of music; to encourage young musicians by supporting area school band programs; to preserve and encourage the performing of traditional and historic community concert band music in America; and to make concerts of traditional and historic community concert band music available to the public in public and private concert venues.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and most of our concerts are free. Donations are gratefully accepted, are tax deductible, and go towards the purchase of new music, instruments and other band essentials.

In addition to concert band, the VCCB also has smaller ensemble groups. Three of the most popular are Woodwinds Anonymous, Same Old Schmidt German Band, and the Vancouver Volcanic Dixieland Band.

It is very easy to join the VCCB and we welcome all ages from middle school through retired. If you have a reasonable ability to play an instrument (band lessons are available to refresh skills) and own your own instrument and music stand, please join us at any of our Tuesday evening rehearsals. Sheet music is available at rehearsals.

If you are interested in having the Vancouver Community Concert Band play for one of your events, or if you have questions about joining the band, please contact the band’s director.

Full band rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Friends of the Carpenter, 1600 West 20th St., Vancouver, WA 98660.

The Woodwinds Anonymous ensemble rehearses on Thursday evenings at 6:30. The German and Dixieland bands rehearse on alternating Wednesday evenings at 6:30 at various locations.

Check our calendar on this site or our Facebook page  for up-to-date rehearsal and performance information such as last minute cancellations or changes in locations.
